Our client’s Tax Services practice is one of the most highly esteemed and most technically advanced tax practices in the world. Through a combined international, regional, and local tax approach, our client’s tax professionals assist companies with their tax compliance responsibilities, as well as, understand the important linkage between tax planning and their business imperatives. We provide a wide array of tax services to help companies identify and implement winning tax strategies that align with the client’s business objectives. We are currently recruiting for the role of Tax Manager to function within a growing global team and act as a key point of contact for a wide range of clients and colleagues. The chosen candidate will spend time managing client engagements by reviewing staff work product, coordinating with clients and internal team members, managing deadlines, and tracking engagement economics. They will also be tasked with identifying and resolving tax technical issues, as well as sharing insights that will improve our processes and overall efficiency.
The successful candidate will:
Maintain continuous interaction with clients, manage expectations, ensure outstanding client service and team with tax professionals to provide comprehensive tax solutions.
Initiate client contact for proactive services; maintain professional relationships with assigned clients; develop additional services from existing clients.
Supervise and mentor other tax professionals to develop their skills and expertise
Develop and guide staff by providing effective performance feedback and ensuring team responsibilities are consistent with skills and developmental goals.
Assist with forecasting future compliance work, delegating work effectively, and resolving staffing issues.
Develop budgets, determine resource requirements, and direct/monitor engagements
Determine all information required to complete accurate tax compliance products within the budget.
Research complex tax theory and positions, and apply them to specific client needs
Perform reviews of tax case laws and develop opinion papers.
Determine areas of tax exposure and adapt to challenges in the compliance process.
Provide timely and high-quality services and work products that exceed client expectations.
Build on technical competence by keeping up to date on trends, developments and technical authorities.
Demonstrate professionalism through a positive and cooperative attitude and maintaining the confidential and proprietary nature of client relationships and related work products.
Contribute to the overall success of the team by developing a thorough understanding of our client’s methodologies and tools to enhance service delivery; effectively communicating with team members regarding work status; proactively seeking opportunities to provide tax services; challenging traditional procedures used and attempting to find new approaches.
To qualify for the role you must have:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a graduate degree in Tax or Law and approximately three years of related work experience. A Master’s degree in a related field will be considered an asset
Relevant Professional certification for example CPA, CA, ACCA.
Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience within a Finance and/or Accounting environment with exposure to tax
Working knowledge of current and emerging tax issues, with the ability to apply knowledge and general and working knowledge of tax law.
Broad exposure to tax advisory and tax compliance.
Excellent leadership, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills
