Reporting to: Chief Technology Officer

Unifi is a fast-growing finance and technology company operating in Zambia, South Africa, Uganda and Tanzania. Unifi delivers personal lending products through online, mobile phone and branch channels. The company is well supported by strong shareholders and a board of directors with vast experience in entrepreneurship and lending.

Unifi is recruiting a new member of the software development team to help build out our world class software platform. The ideal candidate must be conscientious and a pragmatic problem-solver with a natural curiosity to learn how things work. A healthy spirit of adventure and sense of humour would be helpful.

Responsibilities

• Take what is often a one line feature request and build it into a complete requirement that can be handed over to software developers. In the process consult with wide variety of stakeholders from the CEO to end users and software developers. • Ensure timeous quality implementations. Be a driving force in the system development life cycle. Get involved wherever required to achieve the goals. Take ownership. • Perform root cause analysis on issues experienced.

Requirements Required

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills using logical pragmatic reasoning • A concern for order, quality and accuracy. A meticulous approach to work. • Fast and self-learning abilities • Result orientation and eager to work hard and smart • Good written and verbal skills • Experience in writing relatively complex SQL database queries Optional • Passion for Africa and willingness to work in the developing world context
