Applications are invited for the position of Social Media Officer, Grade 3 in the Marketing, Communications and Brand Experience Department at Sagicor Life Inc.

Job Summary

The Social Media Officer is a unique individual that is social and digital media savvy, client focused, with an excellent command of the English language and a solid understanding of social media channels. The incumbent is responsible for developing and implementing Sagicor’s social media strategy to develop Sagicor’s social media persona, grow the social media audience and create engaging content on those channels. This should result in increased brand awareness, revenue and leads. Proven track record in the management of social media for large brands will be a distinct advantage. The incumbent is responsible for the management of Sagicor’s social media channels in the Southern Caribbean.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Manages social media marketing campaigns and day to day activities.
  • Creates, schedules, publishes and manages all content to social media channels (images, video and written) that builds meaningful connections with clients and potential clients.
  • Develops monthly social media content calendar.
  • Designs social media engagement campaigns and fan contests.
  • Monitors trends in social media tools, applications, channels, design etc. and makes recommendations to Manager.
  • Works closely with Marketing Managers and subject matter experts to ensure content is informative and appealing.
  • Monitors social media user engagement and audience growth and suggests ways for improvement.
  • Initiates promotional activities to increase traffic to social media sites by:
  • Sourcing and creating new content from the various marketing managers to assist in ensuring top of mind.
  • Working closely with marketing team to ensure social media is part of marketing campaigns.
  • Monitoring trends in the social media space to see what is trending and current.
  • Analyses competitor social media activity and provides monthly reports on these activities.
  • Develops a Sagicor social media persona to drive and engage followers.
  • Monitors and responds to social media conversations, queries, complaints etc; ensures all responses are timely and in line with agreed policy and where necessary, escalates any potential issues arising from social media, especially those which could affect the brand.
  • Works closely with the Digital Team and advertising agencies to create engaging content and videos as directed.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication, Marketing, Business Administration or a related discipline.
  • At least 5+ years’ experience in social media practices creating and executing social media activities e.g. experience in an advertising agency.
  • Knowledge of, and ability to utilise all current and emerging social media platforms
  • High degree of creativity, copywriting skills would be a distinct advantage
  • Ability to communicate effectively and confidently both orally and in writing
  • Previous experience within a financial services institution would be an asset.
  • Demonstrable social networking experience and social analytics tools knowledge
  • Excellent knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube
  • Knowledge of digital marketing and good understanding of marketing channels
  • Positive attitude, detailed and, customer oriented with good multitasking ability
  • High level of personal and professional integrity and trustworthiness with strong work ethic and the ability to work with little supervision.
  • An out-of-the-box thinker with the ability to come up with fresh creative ideas
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate clearly both with the written and spoken word.
  • Ability to understand and interpret the needs of target audiences and market segments.
  • Ability to work with cross functional teams, a confident and quick learner.
