Position Summary
Bechtel is seeking a Senior Work administrator (Handholding) for the Mining & Metals team, based in Chile. The Senior Work Administrator will advise and assist small local Contractors during the execution of the works. Devoted to supporting and directing Contractor’s activities associated with mass earthworks and civil works. Support other team members to ensure assigned Contractors follow safety requirements, project specifications, and maintain performance within schedule and budget. Performs general functions inherent in all supervisory field positions.
Responsibilities
The Senior Work administrator (Handholding) is principally responsible for:
- Coordinate with engineering on constructability and design issues relating to the civil discipline related to earthworks.
- Establish a civil design/field engineering working relationship and lines of communication with the Project Engineer, including the agreement on civil engineering deliverables and overall construction application configuration management.
- Responsible for quantity take-off, control, tracking, reporting, and forecasting for civil discipline.
- Preparation of requisitions for field procured materials, material substitution and services
- Approve field requisitions as delegated by the Project Field Engineer.
- Review material receiving reports and warehousing to assure delivery of correct civil materials.
- Acting as the point of contact for coordination of all technical issues related to select subcontractors on site who provide technical services for the execution of the civil scope of work, including initiating all formal subcontract change documentation to support the subcontract administrator.
- Direct preparation of cost estimates for civil construction activities and coordinate the preparation of cost reports, forecast and progress reports.
- Coordinate with Field Supervision and Subcontractors to plan/support construction schedules.
- Plan and recommend civil procedures to be implemented by Field Supervision to ensure construction operations are within requirements of engineering design and specifications.
- Work with customer’s resident engineering and operating personnel to coordinate civil construction activities.
- Coordinate subcontract activities to ensure civil materials, equipment and quality comply with design plans and specifications.
- Perform other duties as required by Bechtel management.
- Assemble, review, and submit quality records for subcontract closure.
Basic Qualifications
Qualifications and Skills
The Senior Work administrator (Handholding) shall be knowledgeable and/or experienced in:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or other relevant technical disciplines from an accredited university as well as a minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience, or 12 years relevant experience in the absence of a degree.
Additional Qualifications
- Have a working knowledge of structural construction operations, construction surveying, excavation and backfill operations, and concrete installation.
