Job Summary

The Manager Regulatory Reporting Banking ensures business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Prepare reports/presentations for the Board pertaining to Scotia Group, BNSJ Group and its subsidiaries
  • Supervises the Regulatory Reporting Unit which is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of all regulatory returns to the Central Bank
  • Prepare the Bank’s tax and other statutory returns, ensuring proper accounting and effective procedures are in place to remit the necessary taxes/duties on a timely basis, in keeping with legal, accounting and statutory requirements
  • Keep abreast of new and revised IFRS standards, amendments to the Tax regulations and the Banking Act, as well as changes to the Regulatory return requirements, and ensure proper implementation in the Bank   and the Group
  • Co-ordinate central bank and shareholders’ audits, ensuring technical issues are addressed and control weaknesses resolved
  • Ensure the integrity of the financial/regulatory reporting through monthly trial balance reviews geared towards the identification of errors and significant variances
  • Preparation of requirements for internal and shareholders’ audits for the Bank and the Subsidiaries, ensuring that technical issues are addressed and control weaknesses are properly resolved

The ideal candidate should possess: 

  • Very strong knowledge and understanding of accounting with a good working knowledge of IFRS and IAS particularly as applicable to financial institutions and consolidated financial statements
  • Computer literate with very good proficiency in Microsoft Office software (in particular, Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications)
  • Specific regulatory or compliance knowledge

 QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 7 years’ work experience in external audit or a senior position in an accounting environment
  • A Master’s degree in Finance/Accounting and an accounting designation (ACCA/CPA)
