Standards Australia (SA) is experiencing an exciting period of growth embarking on a number of new projects, which would see our current team of 200+ employees grow substantially in 2021. We are developing new and exciting Standards in the areas of artificial intelligence, smart cities, and supporting resilient communities.

If so, we have a fantastic new opportunity in our L&D team created to support our growth & transformation. This full time role in a fun and collaborative team, reports directly to the Head of Learning.   

Learning specialists are central to our success, creating & facilitating relevant, engaging and challenging learning at Standards Australia encouraging a culture of learning & continuous improvement. The primary focus of the L&D team is capability building across many subjects including Standardisation, compliance & soft skills such as management and leadership.  

You will work with managers & senior leaders across the organisaton to provide a professional learning service, managing bespoke learning projects end to end.

You will be responsible for:  

  

  • Facilitating onboarding programs for our new starters and our new external contributors  
  • Facilitating soft skills & technical workshops to a wide audience from new starters to senior leaders  
  • Prepare and deliver on engagement plans to attract participants (staff and external stakeholders) to non-compulsory learning initiatives by demonstrating value and relevance 
  • Instructional design of training materials using blended learning approaches 
  • Consult and conduct needs analysis and contribute to learning program development, design and improvement 
  • Designing and developing training programs in response to identified business needs, legislation and internal policies and procedures 
  • Evaluate learning programs for effectiveness, return on investment and provide insight into data for continuous improvement 

  

Key Responsibilities 

  • Design and deliver engaging training services to a range of industry sectors and stakeholders (formal and informal learning) nationally and internationally
  • Prepare and deliver on engagement plans to attract participants (staff and external stakeholders) to non-compulsory learning initiatives by demonstrating value and relevance
  • Consult and conduct needs analysis and contribute to learning program development, design and improvement
  • Evaluate learning programs for effectiveness, return on investment and provide insight into data for continuous improvement
  • Facilitate face-to-face and virtual learning for employees and external stakeholders on matters related to standardisation
  • Facilitate and manage online communities using the principles of immediacy, relevance and usefulness
  • Develop training materials and manuals, document learning programs and resources
  • Design learning resources and job aids
  • Motivate, coach and support all employees and external stakeholders to embed learning and improve performance
  • Provide a learning design service to the business to assist with the building of capability and performance and assist with facilitation techniques and co-facilitation
  • Maintain accurate records for completed learning programs, and provide regular reporting
  • Complete relevant administration duties
  • Occasional National & International travel for face-to-face facilitation
  • Assist with the procurement of external training providers on selected capabilities
  • Assist the Head of HR, Learning and Development where required

What are we looking for? 

  • 5+ years writing & designing workshop style learning programs & collateral (learner guides, slide decks, facilitator guides)  
  • Excellent communication & listening skills  
  • Demonstratable ability to present engaging, fun and informative learning programs 
  • Receptive to feedback and continual improvement 
  • Someone who shows initiative, enjoys a collaborative team environment where we are all working towards the same goal – achieving the best possible outcomes! 
  • Top relationship building skills, able to engage, persuade, inspire and develop productive relationships, cooperation and enthusiasm  
  • Commitment towards the completion of set objectives and measurable outcomes 
  • Thorough understanding of complex learning theories, assessment and evaluation methods 
  • Adaptation of courses to evolving circumstances 
  • Maintaining the ‘vision’ in the face of setbacks
