Junior Accountant

The ideal candidate will be required to provide support to the Accounting Department for the Scottdale group of companies by managing daily accounting tasks. This individual is expected to be well-versed in accounting principles and comfortable working with numbers while maintaining a high level of attention to detail. We would like for our new Junior Accountant to aid in streamlining the company’s accounting practices.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain accounts payable, including uploading invoices, maintaining vendor account information, verifying invoices for payment, and coding invoices to the correct expense accounts.
  • Assist with maintaining accounts receivable, document bills and supporting documentation.
  • Perform bank account reconciliations accurately and efficiently.
  • Assist with various ad hoc projects, as needed by the Management Team.
  • Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports.
  • Assist Financial Controller in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings.
  • Coordinate with various departments in collecting and filing expense reports in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Coordinate with vendors to setup credit and negotiate payment terms.
  • Ensure that online and hard copy files are organized and meet company standards.
  • Update financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed.

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics/Business Administration or other related field.
  • Qualifications (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) is a plus but not required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Proficient with Sage 50 and QuickBooks accounting software or an ERP equivalent.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
