Eke Panuku Development Auckland is Auckland’s urban regeneration agency committed to the regeneration of some of Auckland’s most loved neighbourhoods such as Takapuna, Wynyard Quarter and Onehunga. We lead the development of well-designed, diverse, resilient and exciting places where people want to work, learn, and play. Communicating regeneration activities and engaging with locals in our neighbourhoods is a core part of the regeneration process. Your leadership of a senior team of operators will impact the way people in Auckland see the potential of our city realised, and give stakeholders a role to play in this process.

He angitūtanga: The opportunity

The opportunity is to join the leadership team of the Community & Stakeholder Relations directorate as the Head of Community Affairs. Reporting directly to the GM Community & Stakeholder Relations, the Head of Community Affairs is a significant, senior role at Eke Panuku Development Auckland that will lead and shape our place-based communications and engagement campaigns (managing the entire end to end process) in neighbourhoods where Eke Panuku is undertaking urban regeneration. This role requires a mix of communication and PR nous along with strong leadership that will support and develop a team to shape and deliver communication and engagement campaigns. Supported by corporate communications and a channels and content team, the opportunity is to guide the communications and engagement strategy and to encourage collaboration with internal specialists to deliver. To be successful in this role, you’ll need to be a highly collaborative, inspiring and inclusive leader with experience leading a diverse team and working within a matrix structure. You have at least 10 years of practical experience in communications, /or stakeholder and government relations/consultation experience in the public sector.

  • You are familiar in working within complex stakeholder landscapes and leading long programmes of work.
  • You’re able to maximise the potential of those reporting to you as well as the magic of public relations.
  • Experience in a local or central government environment would be a real advantage.
