JOB TITLE: FINANCIAL CONTROLLER

REPORTS TO: CHIEF EXCECUTIVE OFFICER/ COO

SUPERVISES: CHIEF ACCOUNTANT, ACCOUNTING STAFF, PURCHASING MANAGER, WAREHOUSE SUPERVISORS

SALARY: NEGOTIABLE

JOB PURPOSE: To assist the Chief Executive Officer in leading the Company’s financial accounting, reporting and control activities across the Group of Companies and to ensure they are carried out efficiently, effectively and in line with best practices.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide monthly and quarterly reviews, analyzing variances and levels of performance relative to budget.

• Ensure the monthly reconciliation of all ledgers and sub-ledgers.

• Analyse business performance / results, providing feedback.

• Track and monitor revenue for accuracy, verifying it against sub ledger report on a monthly basis.

• Ensure that revenue is allocated correctly, taking corrective action where inconsistencies arise.

• Ensure monthly accruals are adjusted to meet demands of the business.

• Ensure that debtors are monitored and collections are consistent with set company time frames and contract conditions.

• Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.

• Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

• Provide operational support and advice to key personnel in an effort to deliver wider company and/or group strategy.

• Aid in the development and control of a centralized accounting system to ensure that accounts are effectively managed.  

• Assist in the coordination of activities with auditors, bankers etc.

• Acts as the main point of contact to external auditors while overseeing the preparation and provision of annual audit schedules and the supporting documents required by the company’s external auditors.

• Manage the day to day supervision of accounting staff.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES

• Fully qualified Accountant (CA, ACA, ACCA or MSC)

• Five years experience in a similar position, including experience of providing Financial Control across a group of companies.

• Sound and up to date knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

• Sound knowledge & proficiency in the use of Accpac accounting software

• Experience of managing staff within an Accounts department.

• Excellent MS Excel skills.

• Project management training and experience would be a distinct asset
