The Project

CPB Contractors specialise in large commercial constructions project throughout New Zealand. Our current project workload in Christchurch offers construction professionals a long-term project opportunity, with a reputable company helping build a positive future for Christchurch.

Your Opportunity

As Project Engineer (Services), you will be responsible for assisting the services team achieve optimum production and cost outcomes on the day-to-day running of projects. This opportunity will allow you to demonstrate your previous success, learnings and knowledge, gained from a successful engineering career and develop it to the next level.

Duties Will Include But Not Limited To

  • Manage the effective contractor set up, delivery and completion of the project within your scope of works including establishing relevant systems and processes to meet completion requirements
  • Working with site personnel to achieve best outcomes for the project, providing ongoing communication to ensure activities are defined at a level of detail to make them easily measurable and to define a critical path.
  • Reviewing design and construction plans, schedules, temporary works designs, method statements and job safety analysis and quality plans to achieve completion
  • Work with Subcontractors to drive production and assist with technical support to achieve positive cost outcomes

Minimum Requirements For This Role Include

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working on Commercial Construction projects within mechanical engineering, ideally working with Tier 1 or Tier 2 Contractors.
  • Demonstrated experience applying engineering principles to comply with scope of works and technical criteria
  • Strong relationship building, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Experience managing yourself and a team within commercial construction to deliver works between $5M – $20M
  • The ability to engage with sub-contractors, and to communicate with people at all levels to ensure productivity, compliance and drive results.
  • Relevant Tertiary Qualifications in Mechanical Engineering

As the successful candidate you will need to be a self-starter who is highly motivated, well organized and committed to the highest possible work standards. You will also have the ability to build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, clients and subcontractors.
