Data Engineer


About the role

We are looking for a passionate and hard-working data engineer to join our founding team. You will be one of the first 40 people joining NAAMA, at a time when our sights are firmly set on being a decade-defining health and wellness brand. As such, we’re looking for an exceptional self-starter with energy, initiative, and intellect to assist in providing unrivalled insight in a category where this has been woefully overlooked.

We welcome all applicants and strongly encourage those who have data engineering, data science or data analytics experience coupled with 1-2 years of hands-on, sleeves-rolled-up, start-up experience. Specialist expertise in a data engineering role of some form is advantageous.

This is a fully remote role that can be based anywhere within + or – 3 hours of GMT.

Purpose of the role

Removing tattoos with lasers isn’t a new concept, but the way we are doing it is. Aside from the innovative technology, what sets us aside from our competition is our vertical integration in this space. Whilst owning the customer experience is a huge advantage with this model, we believe the billion-dollar value is in the data. We expect that by making sound technology decisions and building a highly capable data team, we will significantly move the needle in the business and ensure we are able to scale at pace.

What you will be doing

  • Quickly understand the most detailed workings of the business evaluating every point at which data is captured 
  • Own the API integrations, Cronjobs and the ETL processes, debugging and solving issues where they arise
  • Be comfortable creating process and data flow diagrams with a view to continually reducing friction in the user journey (whether customer or consultant)
  • Quickly understand the relationship of the data fields and work with the data team to optimise the structure, data fields and tables
  • Confidently run and build complex SQL queries 
  • Work across GCP, BigQuery, Zapier, Stitch, Google Analytics and more
  • You will need to contribute to bringing the data to life by deriving actionable insight to inform data-driven decision making 
  • Work with the data team to build and maintain actionable BI dashboards that display actionable and informative KPIs. Providing insight across 5 key areas, continually developing these to slice and dice data differently and bringing non-obvious trends and correlations to the fore:
  • Customer Acquisition
  • Operations and Studio 
  • Marketing and Customer Communication
  • Efficacy and Tattoo 
  • Investor and Board Reporting
  • You will also hustle hard to run ad hoc reports for stakeholders as needed

What you will need

  • Experience with Cloud hosting, GCP, BigQuery, SQL, Python and Tableau or Power BI
  • Extensive SQL experience
  • Strong understanding of retail and commercial environments would be advantageous
  • Curious, proactive and passionate about data 
  • Technical degree (Computer Science or STEM)
  • 2-4 years of experience
  • Be able to work at pace in an ambiguous environment
