Reporting to the CEO, the incumbent’s responsibility will be to drive and manage the Information Technology portfolio with a view to maximizing the return on investment on the point-of-sale devices and maintaining an acceptable level of Technology in terms of the Bank Systems. Further to lead digital transformation initiatives for the Bank with a view of contributing to the achievement of the Bank’s strategy.


The individual will primarily be responsible for, but not limited to the following;

  • Develop, coordinate, and implement an IT strategic plan for the Bank that clearly differentiates it from competition
  • Evaluate Technical Performance/Compatibility and deliver customized solutions to business units
  • Managing the Bank’s software development needs
  • Develop IT policies, procedures and best practices
  • Ensuring IT strategies and processes that support the Bank-wide goals
  • Network and develop relationships with product specialists and collaborate with partners within the FirstRand Group. Work closely with heads of other business units and the branch network to implement the strategy successfully
  • Advise and implement relevant strategic management processes to facilitate seamless solutions for the Bank
  • Maintain an appropriate profile within the business community through networking internally and externally e.g., membership to external bodies, attend business forums, interact with the relevant regulatory, political role players
  • Set Technology requirements and overseeing relationship with vendors, contractors, and service providers
  • Developing strategies to grow the business and retain key staff in challenging circumstances
  • Develop appropriate people management strategies to enhance optimal efficiency

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A recognized university or professional qualification
  • A post graduate degree/ MBA will be advantageous
  • Should have 8 to 10 years of IT experience
