Advisor/Manager – Infrastructure Assessment and Prioritisation

Infrastructure Australia

  • Play a pivotal role in maintenance of the Infrastructure Priority List while evaluating business case submissions
  • Permanent full-time engagement to commence interviewing mid-September
  • Infrastructure Australia is extremely supportive and open to long-term secondment arrangements

Infrastructure Australia is the nation’s infrastructure advisor. We are an independent statutory body that advises the Commonwealth and other levels of government on nationally significant infrastructure needs.

We are passionate about driving change for sustainable, resilient, and productive infrastructure that benefits Australians now and in the future. To accomplish this, we provide robust, evidence-based advice on infrastructure planning, decision-making, policy, and priorities by being a collaborative and trusted advisor for infrastructure assets and services that deliver better access, quality, and affordability.

Our Infrastructure Assessment and Prioritisation team members are responsible for the development of the Infrastructure Priority List and the review and update of the Infrastructure Australia Assessment Framework.

The Priority List is an evidence-based pipeline of nationally significant infrastructure proposals that are seeking investment. Our Assessment Framework, which provides guidance on infrastructure proposal development and our approach to assessment, has undergone a major refresh to reflect the latest thinking and best practice. It details a staged, evidence-based approach to ensure that rigorous planning and assessment underpins investment decisions.

The Assessment Framework requires analysis of costs and benefits in proposal evaluations, but also recognises that project evaluation needs to consider the broader strategic and social benefits of infrastructure, including elements such as quality of life, sustainability, and resilience.

We are seeking enthusiastic and forward-thinking infrastructure professionals for two live roles: Manager and Advisor to assist us in:

  • Providing analysis and advice across a variety of areas including the development and update of the Infrastructure Priority List, business case evaluations and Assessment Framework guidance by assisting with research, conducting assessments, and engaging with stakeholders
  • Providing supervision, technical review, and coordination of external contractors to support the development of high-quality deliverables
  • Performing analytical tasks and producing deliverables ready for publication
  • Supporting the development and delivery of the Improving Investment Decisions Training Program
  • Practice cross-functional collaboration in delivering Infrastructure Australia’s strategic plan
